Vogtländisches Kabelwerk

For the standard-compliant and visually successful connection of our surface-mounted switches and luminaires.

Vogtländische Kabelwerk (VOKA) supplies the textile-sheathed cables for the visually successful connection of our surface-mounted switches to the power grid. The beginnings of the company date back to 1919.

VOKA – with 350 employees at the locations in Plauen and Falkenstein in the Vogtland region – specializes today in telecommunication cables, outdoor telephone cables, electronic and data cables up to fiber optic cables. As probably the last German company, VOKA also manufactures textile cables for us. Technically speaking, this is a standard-compliant Nym cable (5 x 1.5 mm²), suitable for both indoor and wet areas and equipped with flame retardant properties.

This cooperation was made possible by VOKA taking over the production facilities of our former supplier in Haiger. However, the production of textile-sheathed cables is not completely new for VOKA.

The company began on August 1, 1919 in Plauen as “Sächsische Draht- und Kabelwerke G. m. b. H.” with the production of installation cables. At that time, the production program included textile- and rubber-insulated cables as well as telephone cords. The Falkenstein plant produced enameled wires for the electric motor and telecommunications industries. After the world economic crisis, the company was first taken over by Siemens, then continued as a nationally owned company from 1949 and privatized by the Treuhand in 1991. Today VOKA offers all important cable products and is certified according to ISO 9001 and ISO 50001. The company manufactures according to VDE, UL, BauPVO, DNV GL and various standards and approvals, including those of Telekom, Deutsche Bahn, the Power Plant Technical Rules and EIBA.

The fact that VOKA, together with us, is now returning to its roots and – in addition to all the high-tech products – is also dedicating itself again to the manufacture of textile-sheathed cables, is something we regard as a reference to the common cause: If the tried and tested is not only the most beautiful, but also the best at the same time, it is worth all the effort to hold it in honor.
