Page holder for book lovers
Illustrious libraries such as the British National Archives contain an impressive array of three-dimensional reading aids, including page weights and support brackets, to name just two. As most readers can only dream of such comfort, we are taking a first step towards creating a more serene and elegant reading experience. Our high-quality page holder is designed to smooth out an open book, and its weight allows it to tame even the most stubborn bindings. To serve this purpose, our page holder is made of cushion leather. Otherwise used for the part of a saddle covering a horse's sensitive back, this German-made cowhide is 1.6 to 1.8 mm thick and designed with comfort in mind. The chromium salts used to tan the leather belong to the group of mineral tannins. The pure aniline dye features only organic pigments that penetrate deep into the leather. Since no finish is applied, the leather does not bleed onto a rider’s jodhpurs or the pages of a book, even if it gets wet. To provide the weight, the strongest available design of lead band for curtains is sewn into the product. The page holder can also be held at an angle thanks to its non-slip back made of rough leather.
Reading and writing together form the basis of people’s ability to engage with culture. In the art of reading, these skills are combined at the latest in the annotation and extraction of information from a text. Traditional stationery shops, whose job it is to sell writing instruments, have slipped into a sleepy routine. This is where we come in to revive the scene with products developed in-house and a highly cultured offering. Starting with the writing tools drawer, in which you can “configure” your own pen using the best refills and beautiful casings, we then gradually fill other drawers with instruments for gathering, organising and storing information – both manually and digitally. The vast majority of the items below are made in Germany or by specialists in Europe, Japan or the USA. We develop selected products under the established Continental brand.
