Well known for its high level of whiteness as well as for its durability and translucence, bone china is considered the best and finest porcelain of all. In addition to kaolin, feldspar and quartz sand, it contains up to 50 percent calcined bone ash, whose high proportion of calcium oxide and calcium phosphate gives this porcelain its special translucence.
