Heat-resistant borosilicate glass was first produced in 1886/87 by Otto Schott as standard glass for thermometers. (Boron is a trivalent rare semimetal, technically versatile and possibly an essential trace element). Borosilicate glass is used not only in the household but also in the chemical and optical industries. Compared to manual production, these articles made by machine have a uniform wall thickness distribution, which, in addition to the material itself, guarantees heat resistance. The manufacturing tolerances of a manually processed article are far higher than those of a machine-produced glass. We have secured the remaining stock of the last exemplars of these jars produced at Schott in Ilmenau. The cylindrical jug, aesthetically developed from the Bauhaus tradition, combines practical functionality in form and material with timelessly simple design.
Suitable for iced drinks (lemonades), hot brews, freshly brewed teas or even mulled wine.
